Naples inaugurated Europe's first "smart road," an intelligent road where the asphalt begins to communicate with vehicles. This infrastructure represents a milestone in European mobility, transforming traditional roads into connected systems capable of sharing real-time information.
Portugal is part of this trend through the C-Roads project, which is testing the sharing of real-time alerts with vehicles. The selected stretches for these tests include sections of the A1, A25, and A28 highways, covering different regions of the country.
The implemented technology allows information about road conditions, accidents, or other alerts to be transmitted directly to drivers, contributing to safer and more efficient driving. This type of innovation positions Portugal among the European countries at the forefront of connected mobility.
