Jackson Martins da Silva, 30 years old, is a purple belt in jiu-jitsu from Brigadeiro Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy and is preparing to compete in the CBJJ South American Championship this Saturday, the 12th. The competition will be at Centro Esportivo Miécimo da Silva, in Campo Grande, in the West Zone of Rio, where he will compete in the Master 1 category, lightweight, up to 79 kilograms, in the no-gi modality.
To get to the event, Jackson needs to manage a quite hectic routine. He is in the seventh semester of Physical Education, works as an app-based driver and trains jiu-jitsu twice a week. In addition, he fulfills an internship during the afternoon, a period in which he also takes advantage of the gym where he works to do weight training.
Jackson's experience with time management comes from years of intense routine. For a period, he would leave for work as a driver at 3 AM and finish the rides around 7 AM, before heading to college. The risks encountered during the early mornings made him start working during the day as well, making his schedule even more filled. Jiu-jitsu needs to be squeezed in between these commitments.
