The referees who failed physical tests were appointed to referee FC Porto and Benfica games, according to the classification rules of the Portuguese Football Federation. According to these rules, referees who fail physical tests should repeat the tests in Recycling and Evaluation Actions, known as ARA, after a period of 30 days. However, despite this regulatory requirement, the aforementioned referees ended up being assigned to games of the main Portuguese teams. The situation raises questions about compliance with the procedures established by the FPF for the physical evaluation of referees.
