The municipality of Presidente Tancredo Neves, located 240 km from Salvador, in Bahia, was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 2.0 around 6:37 AM on Monday (7). The event was classified as a low-intensity tremor by the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB).
The seismic event was identified by the stations of the Brazilian Seismographic Network (RSBR) and analyzed by the Seismology Center of the University of São Paulo (USP). On Thursday (3), the state of Bahia also recorded another earthquake.
The Seismological Laboratory of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) recorded an earthquake of magnitude 2.4 in the municipality of Cansanção, located about 380 km from Presidente Tancredo Neves, at 7:07 PM on Thursday (3).
Both seismic events were detected by Brazilian scientific institutions specialized in seismological monitoring, with no information about damage or victims resulting from the tremors.
