Risto Mejide's Sharp Rebuke Against Jesús Cintora's Interview with Pedro Sánchez on TVE: "I Don't Know How It Survived"

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General9 September 2026 at 18:21

Risto Mejide harshly criticized the interview conducted by journalist Jesús Cintora with the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, on the morning program "Mañaneros" on TVE. The interview, also conducted by Esther Palomera, was the target of severe comments from Mejide.

Mejide took advantage of the space on his program "Todo es mentira," aired by the Cuatro channel, to attack the interview. The advertising executive used tones of irony and sharpness to express his opinion about the performance of the interviewers.

The presenter expressed his displeasure particularly intensely, going so far as to say that he doesn't understand how the interview managed to be broadcast in that manner. His criticisms focused mainly on the way the journalists conducted the confrontation with Sánchez.

The interview took place this morning on the "Mañaneros" program of Spanish public television, and Mejide's words quickly generated repercussions, contributing to the debate around the media coverage of the government by the media outlets.
