The "Obrigado e Boa Viagem" initiative, aimed at emigrants and Lusodescendents who leave Portugal after the holiday period, arrived in August for the first time at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto. The action was organized by the International Association of Lusodescendents (AILD) and the AEP Foundation, remaining at the Interactive Tourism Store of Porto and Northern Portugal between August 15 and 30. The operation had the collaboration of the airport management and the Maia City Council, through the Volunteering Office.
The same initiative also took place in Vilar Formoso for the fifth consecutive year, where 350 bags with Portuguese products were distributed on August 22. This action was aimed at emigrants, Lusodescendents and other travelers crossing the border on their way to the countries where they live, study or work. According to the organizers, the first edition of the initiative had distributed 100 bags.
The closing of the action took place on August 31, at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, with the presence of the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa. On this occasion, the initiative's prize draw was held, which received nearly 500 entries. Six participants residing in France, England, Morocco, Switzerland, Angola and Luxembourg received prizes valued at a total of 1,755 euros.
