Minister guarantees that pension supplement does not unbalance public accounts

The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Rosário Palma Ramalho, defended that the extraordinary supplement for pensioners, costing between 350 and 400 million euros, will not unbalance public accounts. The measure, which should follow the 2025 model with differentiated support according to pension brackets up to three IAS, will cover about 90% of pensioners and will be processed with December pensions. The minister clarified that financing comes from the general state budget and not from Social Security, justifying the delay in implementation due to budgetary difficulties arising from the war in Europe and storm Kristin, dismissing it as political tactics and framing the initiative within the government's commitment to increasing incomes and protecting the most vulnerable.
