The Matosinhos Court acquitted today a former Civil Protection coordinator from the Santo Tirso City Council, a former municipal veterinarian and three owners of illegal animal shelters of more than 230 crimes of animal abuse. The decision was issued today, acquitting the five defendants of all the charges that weighed against them. The suspects faced charges related to the operation of illegal animal shelters. The former Civil Protection coordinator from the Santo Tirso City Council was one of the main defendants in this case. The former municipal veterinarian and the three owners of illegal shelters completed the group of suspects who were today declared innocent by the court. The acquittal covers all more than 230 crimes of animal abuse that had been attributed to the five defendants within the scope of this legal proceedings.
