The Senior Academy of the Center for Regional Studies (CER), in Viana do Castelo, is preparing to start a new academic year, already counting over 100 enrolled students. The institution, which has been providing learning and socializing opportunities to the population over 50 years old for two decades, offers this year 14 diverse training courses covering different areas of interest and paces. Armando Borlido, president of the board of CER, highlighted that the institution seeks to meet the needs and wishes of the participants, stating that they are available to provide English, dance or mathematics courses, if requested.
The available activities include German, English, Computing, Photography, Creative Writing, History of Illustration, Painting Workshop, Ceramics, Choral Singing, Reading Club, Crossword and Charade Club, Paper Embroidery Workshop, Healthy Gymnastics and Pilates. In addition to formal training, the program also includes trips, visits, gatherings, workshops and clubs, with the aim of promoting active aging and a better quality of life for participants.
CER has been growing and is part of the Network of Universities of the Third Age, as well as belonging to the Network of Excellence of Universities and Senior Academies since 2009, demonstrating its commitment to the mission of providing a vast and complete experience to its participants.
