September is harvest month in the Alentejo and, this year, there is a new excuse to head to Vidigueira. Between September 11 and 13, the Alentejo town hosts the first edition of the Vidigueira Wine Festival, an event that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the region and its wine traditions.
The festival includes experiences related to the harvest and wine production, allowing participants to closely observe the winemaking process of Vidigueira wines. The region is known for its quality wine production.
The event also celebrates Alentejo culture, featuring performances of Cante Alentejano, the traditional choral singing that is intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This cultural component aims to enrich the visitors' experience beyond the gastronomic and wine aspect.
The Vidigueira Wine Festival thus emerges as a new proposal for those wishing to discover the Alentejo during the harvest season, combining wine tourism, tradition and folk music in a single initiative.
