The review works of Silves Municipal Master Plan are in the characterisation and diagnosis phase, with the objective of outlining the profile and assessing the current dynamics of the municipality. The Municipality of Silves carried out an urban-functional survey of the parish seat settlements, which allowed identifying, locating, and typifying economic activities, proceeding with the zoning of areas of higher economic density, hierarchising territories, and supporting the definition of measures for promoting economic activity.
1,600 economic activities were identified as installed and operating only in the parish seats, with Armação de Pêra standing out in terms of volume, followed by Silves and São Bartolomeu de Messines. From the perspective of land uses and activities, services lead the business fabric, followed by commerce and the catering and beverages sector.
Simultaneously, the Municipality requested a preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Advisory Committee that will monitor the progress of the review works. The local authority states that the revision procedure of Silves PDM is based on and is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
