José António dos Santos, the second-largest shareholder of Benfica SAD with a 16.4% stake, is in talks with several investors interested in acquiring his position, having set a target price of 15 euros per share, more than double the current trading price. After the failure of a previous sale attempt to U.S. investor Tim Leiweke, the businessman confirms there are two to three other potential buyers. Benfica SAD shares fell 0.6% to 6.52 euros, with a market capitalisation of around 150 million euros. Benfica, controlled by the Sport Lisboa e Benfica association with 64% of the capital, has been attracting growing interest from foreign investors.
