FC Porto made the payment of 800 thousand euros to Benfica, as confirmed by the Águias club. This amount was established by the Supreme Court of Justice within the framework of the so-called "Emails Case."
Benfica publicly confirmed having received the full amount stipulated by the court decision. This payment thus closes this phase of the process that opposed the two clubs.
The Emails case originated from the disclosure of electronic messages that were allegedly obtained illegitimately and contained sensitive information about Benfica's activities. The process dragged on for several years through sports and ordinary courts.
With this payment, one of the longest and most publicized disputes in Portuguese football is closed, which involved both rival clubs in prolonged judicial litigation.
