Hungary ordered the expulsion of Russian diplomats, a measure that significantly heightened diplomatic tensions between Moscow and Budapest.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that the decision will have negative consequences for the overall bilateral relations between Russia and Hungary.
Peskov stated that "these actions will not go unanswered," hinting that Moscow will take retaliatory measures against Budapest.
This episode comes against a backdrop of deteriorating relations between the two countries, with Hungary increasingly aligning with Western positions regarding Ukraine.
