Brussels proposes new rules to combat housing crisis
The European Commission proposed new rules to help Member States, municipalities and other local authorities respond to the lack of affordable housing in areas where pressure is highest.
The so-called legislative act on affordable housing aims to create a common framework to assess housing-related measures.
The new rules aim to support authorities in implementing policies that facilitate access to affordable housing for citizens.
The proposal comes in a context of growing shortage of affordable housing in various areas of Europe, particularly in urban areas with the highest demand.
