The series "Carrie, the Stranger", based on Stephen King's debut novel published in 1974, got a new trailer and release date on the Prime Video platform. The eight episodes will be available on October 7.
The production is led by director and screenwriter Mike Flanagan as showrunner, known for "The Haunting of Hill House" and "Doctor Sleep". The lead role is played by Summer H. Howell, who was chosen to portray Carrie White after a casting call with a thousand actresses.
The novel had already been adapted for film, the most well-known being the 1976 version directed by Brian De Palma and starring Sissy Spacek. However, this is the first time the story is adapted for the television series format.
According to the platform, the plot follows awkward high school student Carrie White, who spent her life hidden behind the walls of her home with her religious and extremely controlling mother.
