In debate, William Siri defends re-nationalization of Cedae, and state control of trains, ferries and metro

In a debate for the government of Rio de Janeiro, PSOL candidate William Siri defended the re-nationalization of Cedae, the water company, as well as state control of trains and the metro. The city councilor participated in a joint interview with CBN radio, newspapers O Globo, Extra and Valor.

About Cedae, William Siri stated that he will "intervene directly and file a process" to re-nationalize the company. He criticized that water cannot be treated to "give money to a handful of megabillionaires," noting that water is a right of the people and that having an essential service is fundamental.

When questioned about possible resistance from investors, the candidate stated that he was "sure that no" problems would arise, as "serious economic agents who want to invest" would have a governor who would honor valid contracts and provide infrastructure so they could remain in the city.

About the train system, William Siri commented that Trens RJ has a quick contract, since the current concessionaire Supervia has operated "for a long time and has not solved" the system's problems.

The commentator highlights what he considers to be selective hypocrisy of these artists in their condemnation of certain figures while participating in an event associated with Stalinist regimes responsible for millions of deaths.
