High-precision technologies for prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, previously concentrated in major medical centers, are beginning to expand to other regions of Brazil. In the interior of Paraná, urologist Alberto Tomé is leading this movement, bringing together advanced resources at different stages of oncological care.
With a clinic in Umuarama and appointments also in Cianorte, both cities in Northwestern Paraná, the physician was one of the first professionals in Brazil to incorporate the ExactVu™ micro-ultrasound, high-resolution technology used in prostate cancer investigation and in performing targeted biopsies.
In March of this year, Tomé became the fifth physician in Brazil and the second in Paraná to have the equipment. The expansion of the technology is expected to cross the state's borders, with plans to also bring the micro-ultrasound to Mato Grosso do Sul, increasing the availability of this resource in the Central-West region of the country.
