WhatsApp stopped working permanently on these Android smartphones and there's no going back

WhatsApp ended technical support for devices still running Android 5.0 and Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. This decision marks the definitive end of compatibility with these devices, leaving them with no possibility to continue using the messaging application.

The change took effect yesterday, September 8, setting a new technical barrier for users who own older smartphones. Affected devices can no longer receive application updates, which means they will no longer work correctly.

Users of Android 5.0 and 5.1 Lollipop who wish to continue using WhatsApp will have to switch to a device with a more recent version of the Android operating system. This change is part of the platform's ongoing strategy to discontinue support for outdated software versions.
