The Public Prosecutor's Office filed charges against two men and a company based in Spain, all suspected of crimes of aiding illegal immigration in Portugal. The charges were filed as part of an investigation carried out in the area of Elvas, in the district of Portalegre.
The defendants are suspected of having brought immigrants from various countries into Portuguese territory. The illegal activities allegedly took place between October 2021 and January 2022.
The Spanish company is alleged to have played a central role in organizing the operations for the illegal entry of immigrants into Portugal. The authorities suspect that the defendants acted in coordination to facilitate the border crossing of foreign citizens.
The case allegedly involved immigrants of various nationalities who entered Portugal through Elvas with the help of the defendants. The Public Prosecutor's Office proceeded with the charges after the investigation phase was completed.
