The autopsy report of Larissa da Cruz Morata, 29 years old, revealed at least 14 purplish bruises distributed across her hands, feet, knees and left leg. She was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the bathroom of the house where she lived with her husband, Military Police officer Vinícius Costa Silva, 26 years old, in Embu das Artes, in Greater São Paulo. The crime occurred last Sunday (6).
The Military Police officer is under investigation by the Civil Police on suspicion of involvement in his wife's death. The civilian court ordered his arrest at the request of the corporation, and Vinícius was transferred on Monday (7) to the Romão Gomes PM prison in São Paulo. The suspect denies the crime and claims Larissa took her own life.
The report, however, does not determine when or how the injuries were sustained. On its own, the document does not allow for confirmation as to whether the marks resulted from assaults, a fall or other circumstances. The purplish color of the bruises is also not sufficient to accurately establish the date of the injuries.
