The Military Police launched, on this Wednesday, operations in at least three communities in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The actions took place in Gardênia Azul, in Jacarepaguá, and in the communities Pombo Sem Asa and Cascatinha, in Vargem Grande. So far, there is no information on arrests, but there was seizure of weaponry.
In the communities Pombo Sem Asa and Cascatinha, teams from the Shock Police Battalion (BPChq) are operating. The objective of the officers is to curb the territorial expansion of criminal organizations in the region.
In Cascatinha, agents found seven grenades of artisanal manufacture, ammunition, and camouflage clothing. The material was located during searches carried out at a construction site on Estrada da Cascatinha and subsequently forwarded to the 42nd Police Station (Recreio dos Bandeirantes).
The operation in Gardênia Azul is carried out by the Special Operations Battalion (Bope), with the same purpose of combating the activity of criminal groups in the area.
