Carminha yesterday and today: see how the cast of 'Avenida Brasil' looks today

TV Globo officially confirmed that "Avenida Brasil 2" will air in January 2027, taking the place of the soap opera "Quem ama cuida". The continuation will be written by João Emanuel Carneiro, the same author of the original plot aired in 2012.

The original soap opera was one of the biggest successes of Brazilian television drama this century, etched in the public's memory with iconic characters. The villain Carminha, played by Adriana Esteves, is one of the most remembered characters of the plot.

The story took place in the fictional neighborhood Divino, where Carminha lived with her family and where Nina's revenge, character of Débora Falabella, who was the witch's stepdaughter, developed.

Almost 15 years after the original broadcast, Globo published an article showing how the actors who were part of the 2012 soap opera's cast are doing now.

"The Feiras Novas are a meeting point"

José Pedro Ribeiro Pereira, a 22-year-old young man from Fontão, won the contest to create the image for the Feiras Novas, a traditional pilgrimage in the Minho region. His proposal placed the woman of the Feiras Novas as the central figure, surrounded by a family sequence with the grandfather, the son, and the grandson, representing what, for José Pedro, distinguishes the pilgrimage: the people who come together. The young man, who has been drawing since childhood, did not expect the amount of positive reactions his work received, considering that this victory represents a step towards what he has wanted to do since he was little.
