Justice Flávio Dino, of the Supreme Federal Court, decided to reinstate the Federal Police director, Andrei Rodrigues, contradicting a previous decision by Justice André Mendonça. The decision generated controversy and reignited the debate about the internal crisis at the court.
The jurist and CBN commentator, Wálter Maierovitch, commented on the case in an interview with the station. For him, regardless of Mendonça's decision, Dino chose to enter a game in which there was already a majority formed to endorse the previous decision.
Maierovitch stated that the crisis at the STF has turned into an "organized fan club fight," where the law no longer prevailed. According to the jurist, there are no more rules at the court and the polarization has a political-party nature, being strategically exploited in an electoral context.
The commentator added that the Federal Supreme Court "loses credibility at every moment" with this internal dispute, and that the situation results in a decision that depends on someone, suggesting the institutional fragility of the process.
