The Supreme Court minister, Flávio Dino, decided to immediately reinstate Andrei Rodrigues to the position of Director-General of the Federal Police and Leandro Almada to the position of Director of Police Intelligence of the corporation. The decision directly contradicted the determination of fellow minister André Mendonça, who had ordered the removal of both on Tuesday (8). Dino considered that there were serious procedural problems in the removal ordered by his colleague.
Dino's measure was interpreted as a turnaround within the court itself, as two Supreme Court ministers reached opposite conclusions on the same issue. The situation generated a dispute between the ministers over who would have jurisdiction to decide on the permanence of the Federal Police directors.
The PhD in Constitutional Law and associate professor at USP, Rubens Beçak, made an analysis of the decision in an interview with CBN. The specialist stated that the so-called "narrative war" requires a swift response from the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, who would have to abandon his style described as cautious and measured to act more firmly in resolving the impasse.
