Brussels intends to simplify European public procurement rules, in an initiative that aims to modernize and make this sector more efficient. The Community executive put forward a regulation proposal that changes the current rules.

According to the European Commission, this measure could represent a saving of 650 million euros. This value reflects the positive impact that bureaucratic simplification could have on the costs associated with public procurement processes.

The regulation proposal on public contracts is based on four fundamental forms, according to the Community executive. These forms represent the pillars of the new approach that Brussels intends to implement to optimize procurement procedures.
