The Government extended until the end of the year the extraordinary support for diesel for the agricultural sector and fisheries, a discount that had ended on June 30. The measure was approved in the Council of Ministers this Wednesday, which was held in Bragança.
The discount is ten cents per liter and will be in effect until December 31. The decision was announced by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, during the press conference that followed the Council of Ministers.
Montenegro said the measure aims to reduce the impact that fuel price increases have had on companies. The Prime Minister highlighted that there is currently an overall discount in place for all consumers, and that the country has also had special regimes in the context of agriculture and fisheries, as well as in the transport, taxis, private solidarity institutions and firefighters sectors.
For now, the measure applies only to the agricultural sector and fisheries. Montenegro announced that in the Council of Ministers next week a decision will be made on a possible return of the discount in the remaining areas.
