Justice Minister and Supreme Court Justice, Flávio Dino, determined the return of Andrei Rodrigues to the position of Federal Police director, in addition to the return of Leandro Almada to the institution. The decision comes after Supreme Court Justice André Mendonça had ordered the removal of both from their positions.
Dino made the decision to reinstate the directors based on the understanding that the removal of public servants cannot be done by a single-judge decision. The minister argued that the measure must follow established legal procedures.
The minister also requested that the matter be taken to the full Supreme Court for judgment, rather than the Second Chamber, which was the body responsible for the previous decision that removed the Federal Police directors.
With this decision, both Andrei Rodrigues and Leandro Almada must immediately return to their positions at the Federal Police, while the case awaits final determination by the court.
