Benfica thrashed Porto 5-1 in the women's football Super Cup, thus claiming the first trophy of the season. The encarnada team celebrated the victory with fans through a signing session held at the Estádio da Luz, an initiative that served both to mark the conquest and to preview the return of Liga BPI. Norwegian left-back Marit Lund, 28 years old, took on the role of spokesperson for the encarnadas' squad. Lund described the rout as "an incredible way to start the season" and described the moment as "very fun," also praising the massive presence of fans at the Super Cup final.
