Jornal Económico9 September 2026 at 12:52

Allianz has already responded to 95% of claims caused by storm Kristin, which hit Portugal at the beginning of this year causing significant damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure, especially in the Centro region. As part of its response, the insurer partnered with the emergency action promoted by Cáritas, which enabled the preparation of 1,234 support baskets distributed to 537 affected families in the municipalities of Leiria, Ourém and Marinha Grande.

Allianz Portugal promotes this Thursday, September 10, a meeting in Leiria bringing together around 700 employees. Under the motto "GOING BEYOND. TOGETHER.", the initiative aims to promote reflection on the growing exposure to extreme weather events and on the role of the insurance sector in the prevention, mitigation and recovery of damage caused by natural disasters.

The meeting features the participation of the CEO of Allianz Portugal, Teresa Brantuas, the mayor of Leiria, Gonçalo Lopes, and the vice-president of Cáritas, José Mirante. There will also be testimonies from clients, brokers and employees directly involved in the response to the storm.

The choice of Leiria to host this event aims to underline the importance of proximity to communities in a context of worsening risks associated with climate change and the occurrence of extreme weather events.
