Sánchez points to the amnesty law as the origin of the "discrepancies" with the Supreme Court after halting the grandchildren's law

Pedro Sánchez confronted the Spanish Supreme Court's decision on the so-called "grandchildren's law," declaring that the Government respects but does not share the High Court's decision. During an interview on TVE this morning, the Spanish prime minister acknowledged "discrepancies" with the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court suspended the electoral rights of descendants of exiles under this law, which led Sánchez to warn that these people's electoral rights are at stake. The head of the Executive urged resolving this issue definitively as soon as possible.

Sánchez even indirectly placed the origin of this clash between the Government and the Supreme Court in the amnesty law, suggesting a connection between both legal issues that have generated tension between the executive and judicial branches in Spain.
