Temperatures of up to 39 °C are expected in southern Portugal, with the heat peak expected on Monday, September 14. The stable, dry and sunny weather of the coming days will be accompanied by a gradual rise in temperatures.
According to Meteored's reference maps, the establishment of a high-pressure region in a ridge format, known as the Atlantic Ridge, is anticipated. This pattern will likely impede the progression of Atlantic fronts and depressions moving from the west, promoting predominantly dry and stable conditions with mostly clear or partly cloudy skies across much of the area.
The anticyclonic ridge will extend across the Atlantic, affecting multiple Western European nations such as Portugal, Spain, and France. This atmospheric configuration persisting for approximately four days is expected to drive temperatures upward, potentially reaching near 40 °C in certain locations.
