A six-year-old black Labrador named Miller died after being left inside a van for hours in Illinois, United States. The dog had been taken on the morning of September 2 to Waggles Pet Resort, a pet daycare and hotel, but ended up forgotten inside a vehicle used by the establishment's transport service.
Around 4 PM, about seven hours after Miller had been picked up, the family received news that he had died. That day, thermometers reached 36°C in the region, one of the hottest days of the year.
Owner Steve Serota stated that he rushed to the location and found Miller still inside a crate in the back of the van. He expressed his perplexity about what happened, questioning how something like this was possible.
