Athens tightens the noose on electric scooters and Europe toughens rules

Greek authorities are tightening the noose on electric scooters in Athens, with special focus on minors and rental companies. This decision comes after recording 3,700 infractions in just eight months in the Attica region, which highlighted the urgent need for regulation.

The Greek government has placed minors and rental companies under scrutiny, seeking to more effectively control the use of these vehicles on public roads. The authorities intend to implement stricter measures to guarantee the safety of all users and pedestrians.

This trend is not limited to Greece. across Europe, from Paris to Finland, governments are toughening the rules regarding electric scooters. Several European capitals face similar problems related to accidents, illegal parking, and reckless behavior by users, leading to a wave of more restrictive regulations across the continent.
