The Local Health Unit of the Algarve holds on September 18 the Physiotherapy Days – Hospital Healthcare, dedicated to the theme "Pain Management in Physiotherapy – Multidimensional Approach". The event takes place in the Auditorium of the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve, between 9am and 5pm.
The event brings together health professionals from different areas, researchers and students, arising from the need to promote scientific updating and reflection on one of the greatest challenges of current clinical practice.
According to the organizers, the high prevalence of painful conditions, particularly chronic pain, and its impact on functionality, quality of life and health costs justify the investment in continuing education and updating of professional competencies.
Despite the scientific advances achieved, challenges remain in the translation of knowledge into clinical practice, namely in the effective integration of the biopsychosocial model, in the approach to complex clinical situations and in the consistent implementation of evidence-based practices. The days thus serve as a space for scientific updating, sharing of experiences and interdisciplinary discussion.
