Fernando Grilo, specialist in project management, strategic planning, and marketing of maritime transport services, critically analyzed the economic-financial study on the viability of the ferry connection between Madeira and the mainland. In his intervention during the JPP parliamentary sessions dedicated to the theme "Ferry and Territorial Continuity," Grilo questioned the conclusions presented.
The specialist emphasized that the conclusions of inviability of the six scenarios analyzed in the study should not be accepted uncritically. He defended that these conclusions should be interpreted in light of the assumptions and methodology used in the elaboration of the document.
Fernando Grilo thus made a critical reading of the study, alerting to the need for a more thorough analysis of the assumptions that led to the conclusion that all studied scenarios are economically inviable. The debate promoted by the JPP sought to discuss the territorial continuity of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, a theme that has been the subject of political and economic discussion.
