PPM accuses Government of worsening Portuguese people's difficulties

dnoticias.pt9 September 2026 at 10:51

The Monarchist People's Party (PPM) once again distanced itself from the AD coalition's governance, considering that the current political project of PSD and CDS is not ideal for Portugal and the Portuguese people. In a statement, the party points to the increased cost of living compared to low wages, difficulties in accessing housing, and problems in public health and education services as examples of a policy that is forcing families to tighten their belts. PPM also accuses the Government of favoring the most powerful at the expense of ordinary citizens, arguing that these measures worsen the difficulties of the Portuguese population. This position from PPM comes in the context of a tense relationship with the coalition that supports the Executive, with the party remaining independent from governance.

Mayors and local populations of Aljustrel and Castro Verde, in the district of Beja, report problems of bad smell and "clouds" of flies caused by the deposition of sludges on agricultural land, affecting homes and tourist accommodation units.
