Fuel prices in Portugal continue to exceed 2 euros, which has led many Portuguese drivers to cross the border to refuel. The price difference between the two countries has become sufficiently significant to motivate these cross-border trips.
In La Chuca, diesel costs 1 euro and 88 cents, a considerably lower value than those practiced in Portugal, where prices exceed 2 euros and 24 cents. This price difference is the main reason why so many Portuguese people continue to cross the border to fill their tanks.
The situation reflects the disparities in fuel markets between Portugal and Spain, which make refueling in the neighboring country financially more attractive for Portuguese consumers. This practice of crossing borders to save on fuel has been intensifying as prices in Portugal remain high.
