The food basket composed of 25 products with monitored prices in São Miguel recorded an increase of 5.60 euros between July and August. This value represents a significant rise in the cost of essential products monitored by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of the Azores.
According to DREC monitoring data, the basket now costs 149.01 euros in the period under analysis. The increase of more than five euros directly affects the cost of living for consumers in São Miguel.
The region of São Miguel, the largest island in the Azores, thus sees the cost of basic food products rise sharply in a short period of time. This evolution reflects the inflationary pressure that continues to affect consumers in the region.
The regular monitoring of these 25 products allows tracking the evolution of prices on the island and assessing the impact on the household budgets of residents in São Miguel.
