Schroders: ETFs gain greater prominence in investment portfolios

A Schroders annual survey reveals that actively managed ETFs are gaining greater relevance in investment portfolios, with 94% of respondents stating that these instruments have a role in their portfolios. The main reasons for choosing them are lower cost (70%), intraday liquidity (50%) and flexibility in trading (43%). Investors primarily use these ETFs for diversification (49%), tactical positioning (42%), risk management (33%) and transition management (29%). However, there are still barriers to adoption, such as limited track record (34%), lack of transparency (31%) and complexity associated with derivative-based implementations (30%). Schroders argues that future growth will depend on managers demonstrating clear investment processes and transparency in strategy implementation.
