Globo announced this week the continuation of 'Avenida Brasil', a phenomenon of television drama originally aired in 2012. The new soap opera, called 'Avenida Brasil 2', will replace 'Quem ama cuida' as the prime time soap opera in January 2027.
The network revealed the news, but details about the new work remain under wraps. Nevertheless, requests have already flooded social media for the iconic characters Nina, played by Débora Falabella, and Carminha, played by Adriana Esteves, to return in the continuation.
The original 2012 soap opera was written by João Emanuel Carneiro and followed Nina's journey, who returned to Brazil determined to take revenge on Carminha, the woman who marked her childhood and destroyed her family. The story was a huge ratings success at the time of its broadcast.
