The Civil Guard stated that the investigation into the robbery of the Treasure of Villena "is advancing" and is a priority for the organization. The chief colonel of the Command of the Armed Institute in Alicante, Francisco Poyato, revealed this information during a visit to Agost.

Poyato explained that it is necessary to be "very prudent" regarding the ongoing searches. The objective is not to provide "any data that could in any way harm the investigation," according to his statement to the EFE news agency.

The investigation continues in progress, but the authorities remain discreet about the details in order not to compromise the ongoing proceedings.
