The Portuguese-French director Ruben Alves returned to Portugal to film his third film, "Santo António, the Matchmaker of Lisbon". After "The Gilded Cage" and "Miss", the filmmaker chose to tell a story set in the Portuguese capital.

In statements to DN, Ruben Alves considered the experience of filming in Portugal as "very intense". The director also revealed that the emotional component has a very significant weight in work in Portugal, something he wasn't used to.

This new project marks the continuation of the filmmaker's career between France and Portugal, maintaining the connection to his Portuguese roots. The choice of Santo António as a theme reflects the strong cultural bond between the patron saint of Lisbon and the city's identity.
