USA: South Park creators mock Trump and change series to "South America"

Euronews Portugal9 September 2026 at 08:20

The creators of the Emmy-winning satirical series "South Park" announced that they will rename the show "South America," a parody of Donald Trump's requests to change geographic names in the United States.

The change was made in response to the decision by companies like Apple and Google to comply with Trump's requests to rename Lake Ontario as "Lake America." The series also responded to an artificial intelligence-generated attempt to rename New Mexico as "New America."

The transformation of the series name to "South America" serves as a satire of what the creators consider to be a trend of forced Americanization of place names, satirizing the political pressure on tech companies to change the names of locations in the United States.

South Park is a North American animated series known for its satirical and critical humor, having received multiple Emmy awards throughout its seasons. The name change to "South America" represents yet another of the irreverent political critiques characteristic of the series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
