Professor Sabrina Moehlecke, from the Faculty of Education at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), told the Civil Police that she did not witness physical assaults inside the classroom during the commotion that resulted in the beating of History student Diego Costa da Silva Araújo by other students. The incident occurred at the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences (IFCS), at Largo de São Francisco, in downtown Rio.
Sabrina Moehlecke was heard as a witness on August 31, six days after the incident, and her testimony was attached to the police investigation examining the case. The professor's version contradicts an account previously given to O GLOBO by a Social Sciences student who was also present in the classroom.
According to the student heard by the newspaper, Diego had arrived at IFCS without the shirt that allegedly contained Nazi propaganda. The article also mentions that college employees were heard by police after being identified through facial recognition, and that another parallel case is being investigated: the indictment of 13 people for the death of cyclist Cláudio Rafael in Copacabana.
