Once Again, Yánsàn Arrives at Mangueira, in 2027, with 'Oyá Por Nós'

Yánsàn, also known as Ọya, lady of the winds and the storms, is returning to Mangueira in 2027 with the plot 'Oyá Por Nós'. This is not the first time the deity is celebrated by green and pink.

In 2016, the Mangueira First Station brought to the Avenue the plot 'Maria Bethânia: A Menina dos Olhos de Oyá', winning its 19th championship title of the Rio Carnival. The school broke a 14-year drought without titles, the previous one being a win in 2002.

The 2016 parade celebrated the 50-year career of Maria Bethânia, addressing her religiosity and her deep connection with Brazilian popular culture. Bethânia herself participated in the event.

The plot was developed by Leandro Vieira in his debut as carnival designer of the Special Group. He promoted an aesthetic renewal at Mangueira, reducing the excess of components on the floats, betting on choreographed wings and presenting an opening float that departed from the school's traditional colors.
