A 61-year-old court officer was convicted by the Lisbon Judicial Court to four years in prison, with a suspended sentence, for using his deceased father's gunsmith license to purchase thousands of ammunition.
The man was charged with two crimes of possession of weapons and ammunition, as well as one crime of document forgery. Authorities discovered the scheme when the defendant tried to renew his father's license with the competent authorities.
During the judicial process, it was revealed that the court officer purchased the ammunition through an online store, using the identity of his deceased father to carry out the transactions. The court considered it proven that the defendant acted deliberately and knowing that the practice was illegal.
