A theft in Alcains, carried out through the use of a false key during the early morning of September fourth, culminated in the constitution as a defendant of a 22-year-old man following an intervention by the Republican National Guard. The suspect was intercepted following immediate inquiries coordinated by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Castelo Branco and Idanha-a-Nova, in collaboration with the Alcains Territorial Post, which allowed the location of the vehicle used in the escape.
The thorough search of the vehicle allowed the seizure of various stolen material, including two hundred and eighty euros in cash, two laptop computers, two mobile phones, two speakers, three video game consoles with five controllers for PlayStation, four headphones, two watches, a shaving machine, six bottles of perfume, two backpacks with personal belongings and four wallets with civil documents of the victims. The GNR also proceeded with the precautionary seizure of the light vehicle used in the criminal practice.
The police operation was activated after an alert during a routine patrol action in the town, with the military personnel initiating immediate investigations to identify the escape route and the means used in the intrusion. The investigation points to unlawful entry into the residence using fraudulent means of opening the main door, a fact that aggravates the legal qualification of the crime.
The facts were formalized in a police report and referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Judicial Court of Castelo Branco. The Territorial Command of the GNR guarantees that all seized goods will be returned in full to their legitimate owners.
