The Local Health Unit of São José, in Lisbon, was forced to review and reinforce its corpse identification procedures. This measure came after two bodies were swapped, which was only discovered when one of the families was at the funeral. This incident exposed flaws in the identification protocols that were in effect at the health unit. The competent authorities have now demanded the implementation of stricter measures to prevent similar situations from occurring again.
