The Trump administration announced a ban on imports of dairy products and alcoholic beverages from Canada. The measure takes effect on September 29.

This decision adds to the trade restrictions already adopted by Washington against Ottawa. The measures are part of a broader trade conflict between the two countries.

Canada, in turn, adopted retaliatory tariffs against the United States. The American restrictions are a response to those Canadian tariffs.
